    coolant leak and bad thermostat at 19k miles is bad design. I was considering getting a 911, I know they are legendary cars, but I refuse to buy something so deliberately bad designed.

    Bro, I don’t own a Porsche but I still subscribed - your videos (including editing and lighting/clarity) for a DIY mechanic are pretty impressive. That said, you need to get yourself some more and better tools if you’re doing this type of work! I was shocked (pun intended) that you had to resort to a crescent wrench for some of the larger bolts. Again, your work and your ability to explain your work is impressive, but you need yourself a full line of open end wrenches, a good 3/8 flex head ratchet and smaller 3/8 torque wrench as well. Oh, and a Knipex pliers wrench (or Harbor Freight ICON knock off) can come in really handy as well. Btw, I see you’ve had to move a lot in your videos (CA>AZ>TX?) - do you do mechanical work for a living by chance?

      Thanks for the kind words and feedback! I would love to have better tools, but it's hard to justify as I don't have much time to wrench anymore. I'm not a mechanic, but I sometimes play one on the weekends.

    Hey bud. My company installs this for our customers. Nothing will ever bond after using a polish or compound unless you do a paint prep cleaning before application. It’s not designed for headlights, but I’m sure it would have bonded well if you did a paint prep. This prep process is also necessary before applying ANY wax, sealant, ceramic product as well. These products have to have a complete virgin surface to work properly

    Honestly overall I think you made out completely well. A lot of people will look at this and think it's so much money that drive Hondas but you have to understand these cars are so much more advanced so more things can go wrong. To me it's worth it for sure. The first gen Cayenne is the best. Ive owned both a 955 and have a 957 3.6L right now. I have the same 21' GTS rims on and it looks sooo good especially with the black paint and silver window trim. Owned the 3.6L for over 2.5 years and probably spent about 1.5k /year. Done about 44,000k kms in that 2.5 years. Im going to buy a 957 turbo/turbo s when the right one pops up and if I have to spend 3k year on maintenance I would be totally ok with that honestly. Thats not crazy to me. Any less I'll be super happy. There is just something about the first gen that these cayennes have that the new ones dont. The interior/exterior is just so timeless.

    • @CarFanatic
      @CarFanatic 19 годин тому

      I totally agree. By the time I have time for cars again, I bet the 957 will go up in value. I'd love to pick up a pristine 957 Turbo S one day. In the meantime, I'll slowly acquire parts to make mine more like the perfect spec'd one.

    • @Jdsofar
      @Jdsofar 12 годин тому

      @@CarFanatic Your right. Good examples will forsure go up in value. Like you I hope to get a Turbo/Turbo S in excellent shape and low km as soon as I find a nice one here in Canada or figure out how to import it from US to here. That would open up my options a ton. The Turbo S has PDCC standard aswelll as the wheel arches that the GTS has but some Turbos have these options if the original buyer bought the package or the car came equipped with them as an extra. As better as it will make the car handle it's also just another advanced feature that will enviably fail down the road so it's a double edged sword but worth it to the right enthusiast.

    What reliability issues did you have? I'm confused. You haven't stated any issues just software updates relating to recalls. Thermostats go, its a part that wears. Is this the first vehicle you ever owned? Between my wife and I we've owned 6 Kia's and Hyundai's and zero issues, each driven to 100k miles. I just bought a 2024 SXP XLine, 12k miles on it now and the car is a dream. I had 2 recalls and it was taken care of with the oil change. These are not reliability issues.

    • @CarFanatic
      @CarFanatic 19 годин тому

      Reliability is the wrong word...poor choice on my end. The constant recalls combined with relatively poor dealer service has not created a good ownership experience. I will likely not come back to the brand when it's time for a new family hauler.

    I have a 2023 kia telluride. I got it brand new!!! 29miles. I've been having issues the first 2 days of purchasing it. 1st. It was a recall for the passenger airbag & dashboard speaker. So, I was back at the dealership 2 days after purchasing my vehicle. 2nd, my fuel sensor kept saying low fuel even when it was full!! It would ask if I wanted to search for a gas station. The more I would drive, the bars would go back up to full. I made an appointment, but by the time I went in, nothing was happening, so they couldn't find any issues. Next, my foward collision sensor would come on saying that they were not working, so it would not prevent me from having any accidents. The service department is trach!!!! I filed a claim, but it was denied due to them never trying to fix the issues. Lastly, the drive shaft recall was fixed. Honestly, I haven't had any issues since. They also did an update on the electrical system

    If you’re watching this and in the market, I’d suggest also considering the Subaru Ascent - apples to apples 3-5k cheaper and amazing build quality and overall a fun capable 3 seater. We’ve owned two Kia’s, they’re OK but there is a reason they offer such a long warranty. You’re gonna need it… We had a few relatively large repairs needed (luckily covered under warranty). After also owning two Subarus zzzeerrrooo issues and nothing but basic maintenance on them for 3-5 years after owning both of them for longer periods of times.

    No thank you. Not just the cost but the hassle of frequent problems make this a no-go for me. Any car should go over 100,000 miles without any repairs except routine maintenance - preferably longer than that. It’s just not worth all these problems to me.

    Most people don't understand that if you work on your win car it will save a lot of money although the time it takes is kind of annoying. Also, if you buy from FCP euro they will replace your parts for free through their lifetime warranty program. The coolant leaks this vehicle had is really easy to fix in comparison to most cars, maybe an hour or so of work. I wouldn't own a euro vehicle or anything out of warranty unless you are willing to work on them yourself.

    Did this to a beige full backseat. Worked great, still after years of use looked great. Yeah the wrinkles are still visible but all the color was restored and looked amazing. Leather wrinkles over time are inevitable, it never stay as crisp as new. Personally i find it looking better with some wrinkles in it. But worn of color is just ugly and unnecessary. This is an easy and durable fix.

    That diaphragm is in there to prevent wasps and other insects from nesting in the drain tubes. Cutting it open invites other problems. Pine needles are the bigest problems as well as the tubes from falling off the sunroof assembly on any of the four corners.
